Looking for a party? New Orleans is the happening town when it comes to the year-end events and celebrations. You're sure to find something to do here, as it's always a celebration! Here is a brief line-up of events running from now through December.
Celebration in the Oaks -- Now through January 3, 2015
If you enjoy holiday light displays, the Celebration in the Oaks is for you. Located in City Park, you'll see breathtaking light displays throughout the 25 acres of the park, including the Carousel Gardens, Botanical Garden, and Storyland. Tickets are $8 per person, and it's a good idea to buy them in advance.
Algiers Bonfire and Concert -- December 6, 5:30pm-8:30pm
This is the official kickoff to the holiday season, and it’s an event you don’t want to miss. Come over to Algiers Ferry Landing and be a part of the fun! There will be plenty to keep you and your family entertained, including local musical talent, food, drink, and a bonfire to help Santa navigate his way down the Mississippi.
Jackson Square Caroling -- December 22, 2014 7pm
There's nothing better to get into the holiday spirit than to listen and sing to Christmas carols by candlelight. Candles and sheet music is provided -- fun for the whole family, so be sure to bring the kids. Patio Planters du Vieux Carré sponsors a caroling event each year on the Sunday before Christmas. People from all over come to lift their voices in the spirit of the season, holding candlelights and filling Jackson Square. Be a part of the moving holiday tradition this year.
Christmas in New Orleans -- Now through December 31, 2014
If you're in New Orleans, you're going to be celebrating the holidays big time. In the French Quarter, there's always something going on such as parades, caroling, and other holiday events. The 200 year old St. Louis Cathedral hosts holiday events and weekly concerts throughout the month of December.
New Year’s Eve in New Orleans -- December 31, 2014 Along the New Orleans Riverfront
A New Year’s spent in New Orleans is a New Year’s experience like no other. Of course you can enjoy all of the noisemakers and traditional party favors that you would elsewhere, but we add our own twist to lots of the holiday favorites that you’re used to (to our locals, you know what we mean!). For starters, the standard New Year’s ball drop is instead the “Baby New Year.” When midnight hits, get ready for an incredible display of fireworks over the Mississippi River. Once the show dies down, the town is yours to explore. Party until the wee hours of the morning on Bourbon Street, or visit one of our many venues for live music and concerts.
The last thing you'll want to do is have the proper threads for any of the events you'll be attending. Step into the new year the right way, and hurry - these events will be here before you realize it!
